Message from Mr Williams, Head

Dear Parents,

At the start of the year we shared our five new core values – Integrity, Community, Achievement, Resilience and Excellence. This week the whole school has been on residentials, trips or visits. From our youngest students staying local and visiting the beach or post office for an ice-cream, to our Year 11 students cycling around the lac de Neuchâtel, the whole community has demonstrated their resilience whilst enjoying the Swiss and French countryside.

We are also incredibly proud of the resilience shown by all students who have completed their GCSE and A level examinations. Last Friday we held a wonderful celebration event for Year 11 and their families, and today we welcomed Year 13, their families and friends and special guests to our first Year 13 Graduation. This is a historic moment: GES Secondary opened seven years ago and our first year group are leaders across the school. They are an excellent group of young people and we are sure they will receive the grades to go on and do amazing things when they open their A Level results in the summer. Do take the time to watch this video of them.

With all students back home after their residentials, we look forward to seeing you and your families tomorrow for our brilliant summer fair, taking place at Primary on Saturday, from 12:00-16:00. The weather forecast looks beautiful and we can’t wait to bring everyone together for our final community event of this academic year.

Primary Arts and Music

Violin music exams

Congratulations to Jeremie Hubin Gaspar in Year 6 who passed his Grade 2 violin exam with merit.

There may be other music exams taking place during the summer – we hope to be able to share them in the new academic year.

Lily Boxford in Year 6 also made us proud last weekend.

She participated in the National Swiss Tap Dancing Championships in Winterthur and won gold medals in both the Trio and the Formation categories making her the Children’s National Swiss Champion in each.

She won a bronze medal in the Soloist category against some very experienced and older competitors. Her results mean that she is able to go to the World Tap Dancing Championships in Germany in September with the other 2 dancers.

We wish her all the best for this upcoming competition and in her new school.
