Dear Parents, Students, Families and Extended Members of the GES community,
This final day of the academic year always arrives too soon, but what a wonderful opportunity to pause and reflect on the GES year that’s passed!
This week alone has included a dazzling array of student celebration and performance, with Sister Act at the Espace Culturel de Genthod performed by our Secondary students, two splash days in the heat with our Primary students, a very special graduation ceremony for our Year 6 class, followed by a party organised by our Parents’ Association in the Primary school grounds, our amazing Year 12 Outdoor Club’s expedition cycling almost 200km from Geneva to Lyon, the annual “Year 6 versus Teachers” rounders game (an honorable draw) in addition to hugely enjoyed Staff Appreciation Breakfasts courtesy of you, our parent community, at Primary and Secondary. A huge thank you to you, our parents and teachers, and every member of our GES community who has made this final week of term, and this academic year, such a success for our students and school!
We will be working throughout the summer to prepare and invest in the school to welcome students back on Wednesday 26th August and meet new friends as our school community continues to grow.
I wish every family a happy, safe and joyous summer together, doing exactly what makes you happy and fulfilled!

Presenting GES Class of 2026
We were proud to welcome our Year 13 students and their families last Friday for a moving graduation ceremony hosted in the beautiful grounds of our Primary campus.
The academic highlight of the Secondary School year, the graduation brought together parents, siblings, staff and peers to mark the end of our students’ school journey and celebrate all their hard work, resilience, accomplishments and growth into the fine young adults they are today.
We look forward to celebrating with them once more in August, when they will receive their A Level results, and wish them all the very best for the next step of their academic journey at universities around the world!
Beyond the classroom
A Woodland Outing for Reception
Our young learners in Reception class had a fantastic trip out to the Bois de la Bâtie last Friday.
They had great fun discovering all the many animals, splashing around in the fountains and paddling pools, tucking into a tasty picnic lunch together, exploring the climbing frames, and going for a walk through the forest!

Up, Up and Away!
Our Reception students had great fun during their final transition morning to Year 1. They made paper chains and worked as a team to create a rainbow. They also made hot air balloons ready for their journey to fly up, up and away to Year 1!
Well done, Reception! You are all so ready for this next step in your learning journey.
Fieldwork Fun
Our Primary students have been taking part in the National Festival of Fieldwork this month!
An essential component in the study of Geography, this festival aims to encourage young people to take their learning outdoors to develop their subject knowledge, gain a range of skills that are difficult to develop in the classroom, and help them understand the hands-on nature of Geography.
Year 2 embraced the National Fieldwork Festival organised by Miss Sawyer and had a wonderful day in the breeze of the shade stepping into the shoes of fieldwork detectives to answer the question: what can we discover about our school environment using our senses? Our learners became sky detectives, tracking planes, their direction and why they are so close to our school, donned their nature detective cloaks to explore wildlife and nature on our school field, tuned into their inner sound detective skills to explore human and natural sounds in our environment, and worked as landscape detectives to consider the human and physical features they could see in the distance. Our super geographers then created posters to teach others what GES Geographers need to know about our school. Well done, Year 2!
For Year 3 students, their investigations took them beyond the school grounds to research land use in Genthod. They designed map keys in class and then followed their maps to explore how the land is used around school. As they walked around, they added details to their maps using their pre-designed keys. It was interesting to learn what variety of things we have right on our doorstep.
Year 6 Graduation
Wednesday afternoon had our Primary campus in full celebratory mode as we hosted parents and family members for the Year 6 graduation!
As our Year 6 students’ journey in Primary comes to a close, we looked back at how far they have come since their first days in our school, celebrating their active engagement in school life, their perseverance in their studies, and their leadership as “senior” students in Primary. The graduation was also the occasion to look towards the future and the exciting learning adventures that lie ahead in Secondary.
We wish all of them as much success in Secondary as they have had in Primary and look forward to seeing them walk the halls of our Secondary campus in Versoix!
Cycling in the Heat
Our group of brave Year 12 students endured 38° heat to cycle from Geneva to Lyon as part of their Gold Duke of Edinburgh practice expedition. They made excellent use of the many water stops along the way to stay cool, and enjoyed some relaxing afternoons by the pool to recover from times when it felt like they were cycling into a hairdryer!
The group made for a really cohesive team who stuck together really well on the tour and helped each other overcome challenges, like when their route led them across a stream and up a steep muddy riverbank. They worked together to cook for each other and learned about the best types of food to bring on such an expedition, along with some recaps on campcraft and bike repair.
Well done to all of them for their impressive efforts and thank you to Mr Pearce and Ms Noble for accompanying them on the trip.
Extra-Curricular Activities
A Spectacular Sister Act Production
Our talented thespians and musicians put on an amazing show at the Espace Culturel de Genthod on Tuesday with their fantastic production of Sister Act!
The audience of parents, staff and students grooved along to the powerful music and energetic dancing of the cast, following the story of disco diva, Deloris, who, during her protective custody in a convent, breathes new life into the sisterhood.
The product of many months of rehearsals, creativity and teamwork, this thoroughly entertaining performance was certainly a highlight of the school calendar!
100% Pass Rate in LAMDA Exams
We are proud to announce that our students have, once again, outdone themselves in their London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art (LAMDA) examinations! Our students accomplished a 100% pass rate, with 90% receiving distinctions for their performance.
Congratulations to Guillermo, Aria, Tim, Mariana, Niamh, Orla, James, Lottie, Marisa, Stefan and Nia for these fabulous results.
Community News
Exceptional Academic Achievement at Primary
We are proud to announce that our Year 3 student, Yuvaan, has been awarded the COBIS award for Exceptional Academic Achievement.
Yuvaan joins students from around the world who have been nominated and won one of these prestigious awards, which recognise outstanding individual achievements and meaningful contributions to school or community life and celebrate students who demonstrate not only academic success, but also character, resilience and commitment to making a positive difference.
To honour their achievements and thanks to the generous support of COBIS sponsor, Junior Duke, a charitable donation will be made on behalf of each nominated student to Cool Earth, in support of rainforest protection and local communities.
Yuvaan also outdid himself this week by earning a Head’s Distinction for his outstanding project about jungles, for which he created a miniature ecosystem in a bottle with real plants and clear labels describing each level of foliage and key facts about them.
Well done, Yuvaan!
Gold Cup in Field Hockey
Congratulations to our Year 6 hockey champion, Teo, who won the recent Swiss U12 Field Hockey Championship last week with his team USTS Coppet!
A great achievement for Teo and his team, who have been crowned champions for the second year in a row.
A Talented Year 3
Thank you to Chloe in Year 3, who organised and ran an amazing Talent Show for her peers. Using the Primary entrance as a lovely shaded stage, Chloe’s peers took turns wowing their audience with their dance displays, mime acts, comedy sketches, artwork showcases, storytelling skills, magic tricks and more!

Silver Ski Award
Our ace skier, Alice in Year 5, received an award from the hands of Alexis Monney, Swiss World Cup alpine ski racer, last Saturday for coming second in the Ski Romand Coupe Raiffeisen league in the U10 Girls category for the 25-26 winter season.
Bravo, Alice! We look forward to sharing all your future skiing accomplishments with our school community.
Celebrating the End of the Year
Our Parents’ Association organised a wonderful end to the academic year with a whole school picnic on our Primary grounds.
What a great turnout for this beloved community event, which had our families settle on the cool grass of the school gardens to enjoy a moment of relaxation, share a pizza and watch an exciting soap bubble show!
Thank you to our Parents’ Association for yet another fantastic event, and to all our families for joining us for this last hurrah of academic year 2025-2026!
