Secondary lunchtime clubs and after-school supervised study
We are delighted to offer lunchtime clubs at Secondary. Here is just a selection of them:
TEDx Club: aims to give the opportunity to voice your opinion on issues that are important to you. As part of the club we will learn how to write and deliver great speeches. For those who are really keen, we will take our amazing speeches to TEDx competitions!
Model United Nations or MUN is a superb opportunity for students who are interested in world events and politics to explore current affairs and hone their debating skills. As part of the club, we will explore the MUN briefs and prepare our team to attend an upcoming conference in Geneva.
Magazine club: be part of creating a GES Secondary student magazine. We’ll need a team to edit, research, write, design and publish each half-term. The magazine will reflect the diversity, interests and enthusiasm of GES, in sport, hobbies, art, technology, poetry, science & nature, etc…
A reminder that Supervised Study sessions are now available after school at Secondary.
These study sessions are supervised by a qualified teacher, Mr Alex Rademaker, and are an opportunity for KS3, KS4 and KS5 students to do their homework in school in a quiet study room, free from the distractions of noise and mobile phones (as per school policy), but with support from a qualified teacher if required. Students may also find it useful to get a good part of their homework completed before going home or engaging in other extracurricular activities.
In line with Primary After School Care, the cost of these sessions is 20 CHF an hour. There are two sessions every day (Monday – Friday): Session 1 from 15.30 – 16.30 and Session 2 from 16.30 – 17.30. Students can be signed up for one or two sessions. If you are interested, please sign your child up for the rest of the term via My School Portal.
