Message from the Head

Dear Parents,

This week is anti-bullying week and our focus in assemblies at Primary and Secondary has been on ‘one kind word’. Students have been given wrist bands to highlight this and today at Primary an amazing display of balloons with ‘one kind word’ have been displayed in the Gym.

As I wrote to you yesterday, next Friday we’ll be coming together as a community to raise money for Movember. Please do donate any spare change to our fundraising campaign via the just giving link (https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/gesmovember) which goes straight to the Movember charity. We will be asking for photos from all the dads that have taken part too, so that we can have a montage of our Movember community – I have seen some great attempts this week at drop off.

It has been great to see so many students arriving early to school to head off on sporting fixtures. As the regulations start to relax for school sports it is lovely to hear about the games and the enjoyment that students get from their sport. With the winter season approaching it will be wonderful to have the children back up in the mountains skiing and enjoying the snow. As well as sports, our arts teachers are getting ready for the Rising Stars performance at the Salle in Genthod – please do come along on the evening of Thursday 2 December for this wonderful event.

And I hope you saved Saturday, 11 December, in your calendars for the wonderful GES Christmas Fair when the whole school community will come together.

Have a great weekend.

Christmas Fair: We need your help

On Monday 22 November we will start collecting bottles for the famous GES bottle roulette.
Miss Fortune (and/or one of us) will be collecting bottles at drop off in the mornings for the next 2 weeks. Ideally, we ask each family in school to donate ONE GOOD BOTTLE (wine, champagne, gin, vodka etc) and ONE ‘BAD’(or ‘FUN’) BOTTLE (ketchup, washing up liquid, soap etc). One of each, from every family, will ensure an amazing bottle roulette – a popular and fun stall and one that makes a good amount of money for the school community.
This year we ask that you please wrap the bottles you donate – this can be done in wrapping paper, brown paper or even newspaper (so it can be eco friendly).

This year we also have a prize tombola with a wide range of goodies from chocolates, to bubble bath to toys, to hampers and experiences. Please feel free to donate anything! If you have a chalet or run a business that offers a service, a voucher or an experience would be incredible and would really add to the tombola.  These prizes can also be dropped off in the mornings at drop off.

If you do wish to donate an experience, firstly thank you, and if you could please email Marybeth [email protected].

Thank you so much in advance!

Laisse ton jeans au vestiaire

After their initiative last Spring “Lâche-moi les baskets”, the Don du Choeur is
now organising a new project called “Laisse ton jeans au Vestiaire” for the Vestiaire Social de Genève, aiming to collect 2021 pairs of jeans and trousers for children and young people between the ages of 4 and 18.

If you would like to support the initiative, you can drop off your jeans/trousers to Ms Fortune at Primary (drop-off/pick up), and Reception at Secondary, by 10 December.

We thank you in advance for helping try to meet this ambitious challenge which will help many families in Geneva, who are less fortunate than ourselves, at this special time.
