In Reception, children will work with different techniques of drawing, painting, printmaking, collage, clay modeling, and upcycling art and discover their unique qualities.
They will be encouraged to respond spontaneously to various prompts and understand how art can be used to express our feelings. Making emotion paintings, animal wall hanging in cartons.
Asking themselves “What is art?”, the pupils in Key Stage 1 will be looking at abstract art, developing various techniques of drawing, painting, and sculpture, working with colour, line, and shape.
As part of their Humanities topic on Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius, Year 3 will be looking at specific artworks about natural events to make sense of the world around us and find beauty. They will be learning about how artists use contrast and emphasis, and repetition to create movement aiming to make a volcano in papier mâché.
As of Year 4, the students will get inspired by specific artists such as Yayoi Kusama, Jean Dubuffet, Lynette Yiadom-Boakye, William Blake, and Maurice Sendak, in order to create their own collaborative displays in a variety of art forms.
