Message from the Head

Dear Parents,

It was great to see so many of you at the ‘Back to School Party’ last Friday and it felt like a big treat to finally see the GES community come together in such an enjoyable way. The weather held, the pizza’s were worth the wait and the whole event gave a great boost to the parents association fundraising account. Many thanks to Marybeth, Gemma and Ian for organising such a wonderful event and thank you to all the parents who contributed and volunteered to sign us in, supervise the bar and ensure a good time was had by all. There will be many more events to come, so please do keep your eyes out for more information over the coming weeks.

A massive thank you also goes to all the staff who have been hosting parent information events this past week. There have been lots of sessions to explain changes and we have of course spoken about how you can help your child thrive in school and achieve their very best. Between now and half term we will start to work with our Year 6 and Year 11 students who are thinking about their next steps. To our Year 6 parents, a letter will be heading your way to invite you to an open evening at Secondary and Year 11 students are currently working with Mr Crabtree in PSHE lessons on preparing for GCSE exams and thinking about A Levels (with an open event planned for just after the half term).

It has been a joy walking around and seeing how settled the students are now that the term is fully underway – there is a real sense and buzz of great learning – certainly not always in a classroom as our picture gallery shows, but always with enthusiasm and purpose. If you need anything then please do reach out to the class teacher or form tutor or any of the leadership team who will be happy to help.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Netball, Rugby & Football workshops

We had a great sunny day last Saturday for our Netball and Rugby workshops with over 80 students taking part from across both campuses. The workshops also gave our very own Sports leaders a chance to assist with the organisation and coaching of some of the sessions – many thanks to all involved.

For those who missed out and those who would like more, save the date of Saturday 9 October.
We are organising a similar day with Netball and Football sessions. Registration will open shortly.

CrossFit Camp: Registration open

We are delighted to announce that registration for our half-term CrossFit camp is now open – please click here.

The camp will take place at the Primary campus in Genthod from 18 – 22 October.

It has been created in partnership with FITSPro in Versoix and is designed for students between 10-15 years. Activities will include street workout & gymnastics, running & conditioning as well as a wide range of water activities and swimming in the lake (with wetsuits provided).

The camp is also open to external students, so your son or daughter is very welcome to encourage their friends from outside GES to participate as well.
