Message from the Head
Dear Parents,
I hope you had a wonderful Summer break and that you and your families are refreshed and ready for a new exciting academic year.
The whole school team and I are delighted to welcome so many new families to the school community and hope that everyone will very quickly get used to and have the opportunity to enjoy everything GES and its welcoming community has to offer.
A picnic for new families last week was very well attended and we had the opportunity to see how relatively easy it seemed for new students to make friends and feel comfortable in their new surroundings. Thank you to everyone who is helping to make our new families feel welcome.
Last week, we also had several new members of staff start in their positions and everyone is looking forward to soon meeting many of you in person. You will see their photos pop up in social media posts, so you can put faces to names.
During the Summer break, we received an outstanding set of GCSE results for our first ever GCSE students. The press release is on our website if you haven’t yet had a chance to read it. If you remember just two things from the results, it should probably be the fact that 72% of all grades were a 7 or above (grades A/A*/A**) and this was 10% higher than the UK average for independent schools. All of our congratulations go to the students and their families and our thanks to the staff for all their hard work in ensuring the students did so well.
This week, we had an amazing start to the new school year, which I know will go from strength to strength. Please make sure you take advantage of all the brilliant activities on offer, including the extended sports and language lessons for Primary students on Wednesday afternoon, and sign up for them ahead of next week’s start.
I really look forward to seeing as many of you as possible in person for our Welcome to the new School year event on Friday, 17 September at the Genthod campus.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Matt Williams

Primary Coffee Mornings
We are looking forward to seeing you at next week’s coffee mornings. They will take place from 08:45 to 09:45 and will be set up outside by the picnic benches.
In order to satisfy COVID measures, we will need to register everyone who comes and we ask that you wear your masks apart from when drinking and observe social distancing. For the same reasons, we will also unfortunately have to ensure that all parents have left the site by 10:00 when the children will come outside.

- Monday 30 August: EYFS (Nursery and Reception)
- Tuesday 31 August: Key Stage 1 (Lions, Tigers and Bears)
- Thursday 2 September: Years 3 and 4

Extra-curricular activities & Wednesday Programme
A reminder that all extra-curricular clubs will resume next Wednesday 1 September. Please note that signup (for Primary) is now closed.
