Message from the Head

Dear Parents,

Thank you to everyone that came along and braved the cold and snow last Friday night for the Easter fundraising event. I think it took most of Saturday for me to warm back up again but it was lovely to see so many familiar faces all in the name of charity. We raised 3100 CHF in total and split this across 3 charities. Thank you for your generosity.

On Monday, there was an EGM led by our Chair of Governors, Kate Bontekoe. In the meeting, Kate shared that the parent body overwhelmingly voted to move the school from an Association to a Foundation. The minutes of the short meeting are on My School Portal through the link that was shared last night.

At Secondary, we had our first ever GES University Fair. We had seven UK universities come and meet all of our students from Year 7 to 12 to talk about applications, fees and courses. Parents were also able to attend this session. We have already signed up the group of universities for next year and so if you didn’t have a chance to come along, there will be an opportunity next year. We are also looking at getting Swiss and French universities into school to ensure that you and your children have a broad number of universities to speak to.

Also on Tuesday we had our first post Covid music recital. Thank you to Mrs Goater and the peripatetic music teachers that worked so hard to organise this wonderful evening. A massive congratulations to all the students that performed.

As this is the last newsletter of the term, I want to particularly say thank you and goodbye to Mrs Marett who leaves us today, but will hopefully stay closely linked as part of our GES community.

I wish you all a wonderful and relaxing Easter break.

Head

From Lucie Goater, Music Administrator and Singing Teacher

Our music recital on Tuesday night was a huge success.

All our fabulous music pupils performed to a very full room and the standard was so impressive. It showed just how much music at GES has grown and it was great to see the standard of musicianship continue to go from strength to strength.

A huge thank you to all the dedication and hard work from all our Visiting Music Teachers and to Lucy Colwill and Sian Humphreys for their incredible support.

Finally, a massive shout out for all the GES families who made the evening what it was. Each child got something valuable from the experience of performing live and I was particularly impressed with everyone’s courage and musicality. A special mention also to our youngest pupils who showed such patience and support for what turned out to be a long but wonderful concert!

I wish you all a fantastic Easter break.
