Message from the Head

Dear Parents and Students (who now receive the newsletter too),

We are over half way through this half term and whilst there is no snow yet down here in Geneva we have started to prepare for the Christmas season. The Primary and Secondary parent calendars contain all the exciting events and activities leading up to the holiday.

The School’s AGM will take place via Zoom on Monday 5 December between 19:00-20:00. This is your opportunity as parents to hear from the Board about the work they have done and I will be feeding back the findings from Mungo Dunnett and Associates and our actions in response to this. Final details will be shared next week.

We are looking forward to seeing KS3 (Years 7 to 9) at the disco at Secondary tonight (watch this space for party photos next week), as well as their parents for a social and screening of the England vs USA football match – there is still time to RSVP if you haven’t done so already.

Just a reminder that Mr Vavrecka is doing a “Countdown to Christmas” Holiday Camp for the first few days of the Christmas break. You can sign up your children here.

We have not yet hit our 2000 CHF Movember collection goal and there are only a couple of days left. Here is the Movember Just Giving link again should you wish to raise money for a good cause. As last year, we would love to celebrate any members of our community who have been growing moustaches and feature you in next Friday’s newsletter. Please share your picture(s) with Stephanie Pillot ([email protected]).

We understand that certain nurseries nearby have unfortunately had to close. If your friends, neighbours or colleagues are now looking for Pre-School places for their children (age 3 upwards), do pass on Alice’s details ([email protected]) and she will be happy to help them with arranging a visit to GES.

Finally, best of luck to two of our Year 13 students who have interviews at Cambridge next week, we will all be thinking of you and wishing you all the very best.

Have a good weekend,

Matt Williams
Head

Christmas Fair - Saturday 10 December 12:00 - 15:00

Ho ho ho!

The Parent Committee is getting busy preparing a magical Christmas experience for the whole GES community on Saturday 10 December, from 12:00 to 15:00 at the Primary campus in Genthod.

SANTA’S Grotto, Christmas games & Scavenger hunt, Chocolate & Bottle Tombola, disco party, market stalls, Pizza Matta & Happy Days food trucks, GES bar & café and the traditional hampers will be part of the festive fun, for all ages!

Keep an eye out for the communication from your Class Reps asking for help, as we would not be able to run the Christmas Fair without your support. So please consider volunteering for a small amount of time. Any help is very much appreciated.

We look forward to seeing everyone there!

From the Sport & PE Department

Escalade 2022 - Final details

Tick tock tick tock – One more week to go until the Escalade races in the old town of Geneva!

All participants should have received the final logistical details by email today.

We look forward to seeing you there on the day to cheer our runners – Go GES Go!

Sports clubs in the local community

At GES we know how important sport in the local community is. We are keen to help our students find sports clubs that, outside of school, support their development both in sports, socially and also from a language perspective.

In order for our entire parent community to have an overview of what is available, we are developing a ‘clubs link’ resource on our new sports site (to be launched soon).

We would like to ask for your help in building this resource by sharing with us the sports academies and clubs that your children attend outside of school, or any others you may be aware of.

Please share your insights by completing this form with details of the clubs in question (club name, sport, address, website link).

Many thanks for your support with this.
