One of the essential questions that prospective families ask us when they visit the school is
“What are the timings of the school day at GES and what activities are available after school”.

Whilst we pride ourselves for offering an extensive extra-curricular programme of activities each week, mainly free of charge and from 15:30 to 16:30, we also provide an after-school care facility every day until 18:00 for busy or working parents.

What, when and how much is After-School Care?

Our after school care service, available for all Primary children, provides a secure, welcoming, personalised environment for children after the end of a school day or following after-school activities.

The service runs on school days from 15:20 to 18:00, and on Wednesdays from 12:30 until 18:00.

Parents can book hours as occasional attendance for CHF 25/hour or can book blocks of hours via our Parent Portal, from CHF 305 for 20 hours to CHF 5120 for unlimited time during the whole academic year.

Our After School Care team is composed of English- and French-speaking Learning Assistants:

Victoria Carr, Yolène Cottard and Nercia Blondeau

After-School Care for Lower Primary children (3 to 5 years-old)

From Pre-School to Key Stage 1 (3 to 5 years-old) the time is divided into free play, snack time and outdoor play.

Activities include arts and crafts, board games, puzzles, Lego and construction, playdough, and independent reading.

Our bilingual after-school care team also plan themed activity weeks in conjunction with holidays and seasons to give the children as much variety of activities as possible.

Here is a selection of activities your children may encounter:

World Space Week with moon sand, space and solar system crafts and healthy snacks even astronauts could eat

Autumn with creation of scarecrows, 3D Pumpkins, leaf sun catchers, baking Apple Crisp and going on a nature scavenger hunt

After-School Care for Upper Primary children (7 to 11 years-old)

In Key Stage 2, After School Care is provided from 15:20 to 18:00.

The programme offers space for pupils to progress on their independent learning, receive support for homework, read books and enjoy small group activities.

A dedicated After School Care space provides a comfortable and cozy spot to enjoy all these activities.

The After School Care team also offers specific supervised Prep sessions (at a termly cost) where children are able to complete their allocated homework, practice their weekly spelling patterns and times tables and make sure they have done the necessary daily reading.
